Construction worker dies on former BBC Television Centre site

A construction worker working on the site of the former BBC Television Centre has died after an incident involving a vehicle.

The worker was taken by air ambulance from the west London site to St Mary’s Hospital where he later died.

Mace is currently converting the BBC’s former headquarters into homes, office space and television studios on behalf of joint developers Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan.

A joint statement from Mace and Stanhope said: “An incident occurred on Monday morning at the Television Centre site involving a vehicle and a member of the site team.

“The person was taken to hospital but sadly passed away and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.”

The Health and Safety Executive told Construction News that it was aware of the incident and was investigating.
