£25m manufacturing centre contract revealed

A £25m deal to build a new laboratory in Darlington has been unveiled today.

The contract to design and build the National Biologics Manufacturing Centre is worth £10m to £25m.

The new building, for the Centre for Process Innovation, will help companies develop new ways of manufacturing medicine using biotechnology.

The centre will consist of three or four levels and a footprint of approximately 4,000 square metres including mechanical and electrical services, laboratories, clean rooms and offices, training and conference facilities.

The contract is expected to last 15 months and the deadline for tenders is 16 October at midday. More information is available from www.uk-cpi.com/tenders
