The Construction Industry Training board plans to start legal courses for managers of small firms in an effort to help them avoid the legal pitfalls of contracting. Five one-day courses will be offered in each CITB region, probably starting in the summer.Ian Bercham, head of business and management development, said: 'Anyone with a small business will be concentrating on the technical and craft skills side and on winning more work will possibly have overlooked legal conditions in contracts.'I hope that even if after these courses small contractors do not understand the legal issues, there will at least have been a question mark triggered in their minds and they will know how to get legal advice.'
