8. Michael Gove

Education secretary

The education secretary presides over the government department responsible for releasing the wrecking ball that swung through the £55bn Building Schools for the Future programme.

In contraction, while it is in part held responsible for the current state of education construction, it is also eyed by
construction firms with the hope that some of the scrapped projects may yet be rescued, alongside the sample schools that were brought back from the precipice.

While BSF is defunct, there will certainly still be education construction going forward, albeit it in a more modest form - those specialising in offsite construction, step forward.
