G'day sunshine

Sun, money and the chance to make a genuine difference – what more could you want from a construction job?

A delegation from Brisbane visited the UK last week to set out A$6.4bn (£4bn) of opportunities rebuilding Queensland after the floods and cyclone that hit the Australian state earlier this year.

The first contracts for the huge reconstruction effort are expected to go out before the summer, and UK firms are being urged to team up with local companies for a shot at the work.

So if you are feeling down at the thought of another 12 months’ cut-throat tendering in the rain, why not have a look at the opportunities Down Under? With A$36.9bn due to be invested in infrastructure between 2008 and 2014, you may never come back.
