Ed Balls attacks Osborne over NIP progress

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls has attacked George Osborne over a “lack of progress” since the infrastructure was placed at the heart of economic growth a year ago.

“One year ago, the prime minister boasted of a National Infrastructure Plan; 12 months on and not a single road scheme has even started,” said Mr Balls.

Mr Balls also said the £1bn announced for schools is a fraction of the scrapped Building Schools for the Future programme.

Mr Balls also asked “whatever happened” to plans for the business investment bank.
