Asda strike 'will mean empty shelves within days'

Union leaders will today decide whether to call a series of strikes at Asda after thousands of workers at the supermarket giant voted to take industrial action.

Shop stewards at the GMB union will meet in Manchester and are expected to set a date for action, which the union warned would lead to empty shelves at Asda stores within days.

Workers involved in the dispute are based at depots across the UK, including Bedford, Chepstow, Dartford, Didcot, Erith, Falkirk, Grangemouth, Wigan, Staffordshire, Bristol, Skelmersdale and Wakefield.
