13) John Armitt CBE

Chairman, Olympic Delivery Authority

Following his previous post as chief executive of Network Rail, trained civil engineer Mr Armitt took on the task of delivering London’s Olympic infrastructure in September 2007. His CV includes 27 years at John Laing working on major projects worldwide before a four-year spell at Union Railways developing the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. His influence is not lessened by the fact that no-one has a bad word to say about him.
