7) Tony Fountain

Chief executive, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

Appointed to his new role in June and assuming responsibility in October, new NDA chief Tony Fountain will be in charge of redeveloping Britain’s 19 nuclear sites.

The decommissioning of sites – such as the Wylfa Power Station, on Anglesey, North Wales – is expected to pump billions of pounds into the construction industry.

Coming from a division of BP, where he was chief operating officer of BP’s fuels value chains business, Mr Fountain will play a key role in further deliberation over the UK’s energy future and the delivery of contracts for soon-to-be decommissioned nuclear reactors. Mr Fountain, who was educated at Oxford, has an international career that spans the past 25 years, including several postings to the US.
