Alan Ritchie re-elected as Ucatt chief

Ucatt general secretary Alan Ritchie has been re-elected to head the construction union for a second term.

Mr Ritchie defeated union member Michael Dooley with 60 per cent of the vote.

He said he was “commited to building on the deep foundations laid in my first term, to ensure that Ucatt continues to grow in membership, authority and influence”.

Mr Ritchie has been in the position since 2004. Prior to his election he was Ucatt’s Scottish regional secretary.

Following the announcement of his re-election, he said: “Construction workers face greater injustices and dangers at work then virtually any other profession. Those injustices and dangers will only be overcome through the organisation and drive of Ucatt and its members.”
