The 3M™ PELTOR™ LiteCom™ and 3M™ PELTOR™ FM Radio Headsets have been developed to, first and foremost, protect workers’ hearing from noise hazards that can be present in the construction industry.
The built-in two way radio featured in the PELTOR LiteCom Headset opens up a world of communication possibilities.
It offers hearing protection and excellence in hands-free communication, at a distance of up to 1km. It allows for easy communication - no more need for flags or hand signals!
The PELTOR FM Radio Headset is suited to the smaller SME builder and construction worker. The radio ensures workers are motivated and entertained, whilst at the same time protecting their hearing from potentially dangerous noise levels on site.
The 3M PELTOR WS Alert XP Headset allows for situational awareness as not all sound is blocked out, and is in fact played back at a safe rate allowing the worker to be aware of warning alarms - such as trucks reversing.
On certain models the addition of Bluetooth notifies workers of incoming calls, meaning they’ll never miss an important call again.
After a revealing study in Sweden, researchers at Lund University have found that the use of two-way radio communication headsets can improve the productivity of a work unit by 380 minutes per construction study.
This is an increase in productivity from 71% to over 86%. Read more about the study.
The results of the study also showed that downtime of teams with the headsets was just 320 minutes, compared to 590 minutes for those without.
The increase in efficiency is so great, we recover costs fast
Workers were able to quickly relay and receive messages on the job using the headsets, which resulted in more efficient working.
The headsets are able to solve the two critical problems of noisy environments; providing hearing protection and enabling effective communication.
Speaking to a Swedish occupational safety news website, Skanska production manager Fredrik Greén said of the devices: “Everyone can hear what’s going on, which also makes logistics easier.
”The increase in efficiency is so great that we recover the higher costs fairly fast.”
