Man fatally crushed by steel frame

A man has been killed after becoming trapped under machinery at a construction products plant in Northern Ireland.

Kieran McClean, believed to be aged in his late 40s, became trapped under a large steel frame with granite cladding at the Engineering and Construction Group plant at Kilkeel harbour on Monday evening.

Mr McClean was taken to a local hospital but later died of his injuries.

He had worked for the company for more than 20 years, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The plant has now been closed while the Health and Safety Executive investigates the incident.
