Operation starts to move collapsed Liverpool crane

Work to move the crane which collapsed on a block of flats in Liverpool on Monday will begin today.

The 100-tonne crane was carrying a five-tonne weight when it came crashing down at Bowmer & Kirkland’s Kings Dock Mill site.

An operation to lift the crane from the four-storey block it landed upon is expected to start at noon.

Bowmer & Kirkland has said the crane was acting “well within its design capacity” when it toppled.
