Two men taken to hospital after Airdrie building collapse

Two men had to be rescued from a housing development in North Lanarkshire yesterday after a building collapsed.

Emergency services were called to the site, in Airdrie, just before 10am. The two men were rescued from the building; one of them stretchered to safety using an aerial rescue pump.

They were then taken to Monklands Hospital. Names and details of their condition have not been released.

An investigation is being carried out by police and the Health and Safety Executive to determine the cause of the building collapse.
