A vigil has been held to mark the anniversary of a crane collapse that killed seven people in New York last year.
Survivors of the crash gathered with neighbours and elected officials in Manhattan’s east side yesterday to mark the one-year anniversary of the tragedy.
The crane collapsed as it was being lengthened during the construction of a high-rise residential tower.
John Gallego, who was the last person to be pulled from the rubble, told local media he felt “happy to be alive”.
Investigations have blamed the accident on faulty rigging.
