CN wins national award for mental health campaign

Construction News has won a prestigious national award for its mental health campaign, Mind Matters.

Mind, the mental health charity, named CN Best Publication following its extensive work in raising awareness of mental health in the construction industry.

CN was the only B2B publication to be shortlisted for the awards and was up against the Sunday Express, the Guardian’s Healthcare Professionals Network, Men’s Health and for the award.

Mind tweeted: “When research showed that male construction workers were at the greatest risk of suicide, @CNplus launched Mind Matters in the hope it would empower people to speak out.”

Prince Harry also attended and spoke at Mind’s media awards, held in front of 800 people in London, about the importance of raising awareness of mental health.

Mind Matters was launched by CN in January to promote mental health awareness among construction companies.

CN has published dozens of articles and made many of them free to read, including an industry-wide survey which found that one in four respondents had considered suicide.

The results sparked industry leaders into action, with the UK’s largest firms signing up to provide mental health first aid courses and pledging to talk about mental health as part of industry initiatives including Mates in Mind and Stop. Make a Change.

  • Excellent achievement CN and thoroughly well deserved. Mental health awareness in society is a challenge in itself but to make headway in this industry, which you have, is to be congratulated.
