Ashtead Group appoints US chief for subsidiary

Equipment rental business Ashtead Group has appointed a new chief executive for its US subsidiary Sunbelt Rentals.

Brendan Horgan will replace Joe Phelan who formally ceased being chief executive and a director of Ashstead yesterday.

Mr Horgan also joins the board as an executive director. He joined Sunbelt in 1996 and has since held a number of senior management positions chief sales officer and chief operating officer.

Ashtead chief executive Geoff Drabble said: “He has been instrumental in developing the Sunbelt business over a number of years and in his new role I am confident that he will help us take further advantage of the opportunities which exist at this exciting time for the rental industry in North America.”
