Bovis to roll out new multi-purpose lifting cage across all sites

Bovis Lend Lease and HTC Plant have developed a multi-purpose lifting cage which will now be used across all the contractor’s sites in the UK.

Head of health and safety Jeremy James said the cage – which uses palette-forks so as to provide better protection than traditional catch nets – would significantly improve the safe lifting of materials on site.

He said he hoped the industry would recognise its benefits as a standard lifting accessory and adopt the new product.

Bovis last week announced it would also ban all semi-automatic and single pin fully-automatic excavator quick hitches from its sites from next year.

Mr James said: “We are continuously striving to push the boundaries of making our sites safer.  It is important that we work closely with our contractors and supply chain and develop solutions together so that we do not just raise the bar on Bovis Lend Lease sites, but we raise standards across the industry.”
