Grant boosts construction training

A £12 million grant has been awarded to construction company Mansell by the Scottish Funding Council to build a construction training facility at Aberdeen College.

The new building alongside the Altens campus will contain workshops and classrooms for joinery, electrical and plumbing courses.

The facility, hailed as an important boost for the local economy, will also have a new library, fitness suite and dining area.

College principal Roddy Scott said: “We are delighted this has been given the go-ahead by the Scottish Funding Council.

“The construction training facility will be an important investment in the local economy and should benefit an industry which has felt the effects of recession.”
