The firm has committed to reducing waste to landfill by 70 per cent by 2010 and achieving a minimum ‘very good’ BREEAM green rating on every building it constructs.
It aims to cut carbon emissions by 20 per cent in 2010. The company has produced a Green Office Guide that covers reducing energy use, green procurement, transport, building design and management and water efficiency. It is competing for the title of Most Improved Sustainable (Green) Office, with winners to be announced next month.
Bovis has established Be Onsite, a not-for-profit organisation to employ or provide training to 3,000 local jobseekers by the end of 2010. Between 2007 and 2008 it helped 350 people into employment within the construction industry and provided skills training to a further 1,000.
