Morgan Ashurst’s businesses are ISO 14001 accredited. Its CSR forum meets quarterly to review social and environmental initiatives, and is represented by a main board member from its parent company, Morgan Sindall Group.

Those with company cars get a bonus of up to £50 a month for choosing a more environmentally-friendly vehicle – and they may be penalised up to £40 a month for choosing one which produces more CO2. It is also starting a scheme where staff can pay for a bicycle over a year and end up getting it for half price.

The firm aims to hire people near projects and has employed 84 per cent locally on some of its schemes. It is also working with county councils on recycling schemes which employ past offenders and disadvantaged people.

Targets are being worked on for waste and recycling given the restructure of the group.
