Peabody shines light on £23m solar panel procurement

The Peabody Group has begun the hunt for a contractor to fit its entire London housing stock with solar panels.

In an OJEU notice, the group said it was seeking contractors to deliver a £23 million programme of energy efficiency and generating solutions across a portfolio of properties.

The work will take place on both individual dwellings – approximately 25 per cent of the stock – and larger communal blocks.

While the intention is to deliver the carbon saving through the installation of solar panels, the group said solar thermal energy provision may also be considered where appropriate.

The programme is expected to last 18 months, with a “substantial part of the installation” completed prior to April 2012.

Tender documents should requested by 18 January with bids in by 25 January.
