Marked as the Greenest Contractor in this year’s Sunday Times Green list, the firm puts environmental and social responsibility high on its agenda.

Almost all of its UK projects are ISO 14001 accredited and are monitored against its 10-point sustainability criteria. These include measures for energy performance, community involvement, measures for waste diverted from landfill and the use of recycled materials.

The company aims to be carbon neutral by 2012, and is constantly working to improve the sustainability of its buildings. It has used Formula One tyres on a school roof as well as recycled denim and t-shirts for wall insulation.

In the last three years it has won awards at a national and local level for the sustainability of its buildings, including a BREEAM award for Swindon Central Library and a LABC Cymru South Wales Building award for Penderyn Primary school.

It has also run Sustainable Development training programmes for its employees.
