CIPS index slows

Construction industry is still growing but at the slowest rate in eight months

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Index of Construction Industry Performance fell in October from 60.3 in the previous month – which means the industry is still growing but at the slowest rate in eight months.

Volumes of incoming new orders to UK construction firms rose sharply in October. The seasonally adjusted New Orders Index hit 61.7, which panel members linked to the successful conclusion of tendering negotiations. But the rate of growth eased from the previous month.
