Plans for an £8.3 million affordable housing development in West Norwood, south-east London by housing association L&Q have been given the go-ahead.
The development in Canterbury Grove consists of 24 two-bedroom apartments, as well as one-bedroom apartments and two- and three-bedroom duplexes. Two of the homes are designed for residents who use wheelchairs.
The development, designed by Alan Camp Architects, is arranged in three blocks, each with a front door on to Canterbury Grove.
Each block also has a side access opening on to doorstep play areas between the houses and provides access to the shared garden and play areas to the rear of the development.
The development will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the system for measuring the sustainability of new housing with ten per cent of its energy requirements being produced on site.
Inspace will build the new housing which is set to be completed in November 2010.
