A £500 million contract to build the Aberdeen bypass went out for tender today.
Transport Scotland and Aberdeen City Council have invited tenders via OJEU for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and Balmedie-Tipperty Project.
The scheme is being tendered under the non-profit distribution private finance model. A contractor is needed to design and build and finance and maintain the trunk network.
The value of the deal is between £472m and £506m, and will last 35 years.
That includes the construction value of the AWPR/Balmedie-Tipperty Scheme of £472m.The estimated construction value of the combined potential Associated Projects is £34m.
The contract will include:
Design, construction and finance of the 46 km dual 2 lane Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and associated works and 12 km dual two lane A90 Balmedie-Tipperty Improvement and associated works.
The finance, operation and maintenance of the trunk road network produced as a consequence of the New Works along with associated structures (“the O&M Works”) for a period of approximately 30 years after completion of the New Works.
Access from the North Proposal (known as “The Third Don Crossing”): design and construction of the 2.4 km single carriageway road and river crossing scheme in Aberdeen and all Associated Works.
A96 Dyce Park and Choose and associated Link Road: design and construction of the 999 space A96 Dyce Park and Choose site and a 0.5km link road and all Associated Works.
A90 Aberdeen South Park and Choose: design and construction of the 999 space A90 Aberdeen South Park and Choose and all Associated Works.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 4 March 2013.
