Balfour Beatty has been selected to deliver the preconstruction works for a £130m residential project in St James’s Park, London.
The contract includes the programme and procurement of the 1 Palace Street scheme in the lead up to the full construction contract award, which is expected in early 2016.
Work on the full project will involve the refurbishment of the existing six-storey building, as well as construction behind retained facades and a four-storey basement.
The project, which will include 72 flats and 10,000 sq ft of leisure facilities, is being developed by Palace Revive Development and Northacre.
Construction is due to start in early 2016 following the full contract award, with completion expected by the end of 2017.
Balfour Beatty UK construction managing director Dean Banks said: “I am very pleased that our technical solution to the construction of this complex build has been embraced by Palace Revive Development and Northacre.
“Our proven ability to succeed in constrained construction environments in busy city centres means we are well suited to this prestigious project and we look forward to securing the full contract award early next year.”
