CN100 interactive: Challengers, leaders, dwindlers and cash cows
This interactive infographic shows which firms have boosted their profitability and which have struggled over the past 12 months.
The graphic is based on Boston Consulting Group’s growth-share matrix, grouping companies into four categories:
Cash Cows: These firms typically generate cash in excess of the amount needed to maintain the business, and are generally firms with a slowly growing turnover.
Dwindlers: Either firms with a low market share or those that have performed poorly in terms of cash generation or profit margins.
Leaders: Fast-growing companies in terms of turnover and profit margins.
Challengers: These companies have shown rapid increases in turnover, but are still struggling with declining profit and profit margins.
