Contractor sought for £12m Sheffield graduate school

Sheffield University is seeking a contractor to build a new £12 million Engineering Graduate School.

The contract involves the demolition of a single storey building containing lecture theatres and laboratories on the intersection of Broad Lane and Newcastle Street, Sheffield and subsequent construction of the Engineering Graduate School.

The new school will accommodate teaching, research and office space totalling 5,355 sq m over seven storeys for post-graduate and post-doctorate cohorts.

Construction work on the £11.7m project is expected to begin in February 2012 to be completed in August 2013.

Between five and six contractors will be invited to tender for the project with the deadline for receipt of tenders at 12pm on 30 September.

The contract also sets out a minimum standard of £15m in insurance as potentially required.
