Contractors wanted for £44m St Helens redevelopment

Property developer Langtree is seeking contractors for a development worth a total of £44 million and includes the construction of a new stadium for St. Helens’ rugby league team.

The mixed-use project, to be built on the former United Glass Site in St Helens, Merseyside, will include a stadium with a minimum capacity of 17,980 and a 140,000 sq ft Tesco supermarket.

The contract for the stadium is worth £24 million, while the supermarket job is valued at £18 million. The third lot, for infrastructure, is worth £2 million.

Up to five firms will be invited to tender for the deal. Firms have until 7 August to express an interest.
