Balfour Beatty has clinched the initial scheme of the £95 million Hartlepool Building Schools for the Future programme by Hartlepool Borough Council.
The Hartlepool BSF programme involves the rebuilding and replacement of six schools over the next five years. Construction of the initial sample school, Dyke House Sports and Technology College, will begin this summer with completion by Christmas 2011.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said: “We are delighted to have been selected to deliver first-class learning environments for the students, teachers and communities of Hartlepool.
“We have made a commitment to regenerate and sustain the local economy as part of our contract and we look forward to delivering these commitments throughout the construction period.”
