A man in his 50s was killed yesterday after an incident on Balfour Beatty’s Third Don Crossing site in Aberdeen.
Police were called at 4.45pm yesterday after receiving reports that a man had been injured at the site. He died at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said that inquiries were “at an early stage”, adding that the Health and Safety Executive had been informed of the incident.
Balfour Beatty won the contract to build the bridge across the river Don in 2013, with construction due to be completed later this year.
A spokeswoman for Balfour Beatty said: “Yesterday afternoon, a colleague working on the Third Don Crossing construction project in Aberdeen died.
“Our deepest sympathies are with our colleague’s family, friends and co-workers at this time.
“We are liaising with Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive to support their investigations and while these continue it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
