Bam Construct reveals new UK chief executive

James Wimpenny has been appointed the new chief executive of Bam Construct UK, taking over following the retirement of Graham Cash.

Mr Wimpenny has been at Bam Construct for more than 30 years.

He spent nine of those as regional director of the North-east division of Bam Construction, before becoming an executive director of Bam Construct UK in 2015.

He takes the reins from Mr Cash, who has been at the Dutch-based contractor for 31 years, holding leadership positions from 1995 onwards and serving as a member of the UK board since 2007.

In June Mr Cash set out Bam’s plans to target new sectors with its property business.

He was speaking as the contractor posted pre-tax profit of £26.2m for the year to 31 December 2016, more than double the £13.0m reported in its previous results.

Mr Wimpenny will take on his new role as CEO from the 1 January 2018.
