Bam scoops £60m airport car park double

Bam Construction has won deals for two projects worth a total of £60m with Manchester Airports Group (MAG).

The contractor will build two multi-storey car parks, one at Manchester Airport and the other at the MAG-owned Stansted Airport, under the client’s capital delivery framework.

Bam’s first deal is for the delivery of a 6,500-space car park for Manchester Airport’s terminals one and two.

The value of the scheme is £34m and the first phase will be delivered by August 2018, with the remaining work to be completed in April 2019.

Its second contract is for a five-level car park at Stansted that will provide 2,500 car park spaces.

This contract is valued at £26m and work is expected to finish by May 2019.

Bam Construction has so far secured 11 schemes under MAG’s framework.

The contractor has also put in a tender for MAG’s £50m modular car parks framework, which opened for bidding in March this year.

A maximum of six contractors are expected be appointed to the framework.

Places will be awarded across four lots, with the largest being for the supply and installation of a £35m multi-storey modular car park.
