Costain preferred bidder on £15m Severn Trent Water job

Costain has been named preferred bidder on the £15 million contract for Severn Trent Water to construct a new treated water pumping station at Frankley, one of its major water treatment works in Birmingham.

Costain, in partnership with MWH, is set to start early works from December 2010 with major construction activities expected to be underway in the summer of 2011.

Frankley water treatment works supplies water to around 1.4 million people in Birmingham and the surrounding area.

Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: “We are delighted to have achieved preferred bidder status for Severn Trent to construct a new water pumping station which is in addition to our existing AMP5 contract.”

The scheme is expected to take around two years to complete.
