Interserve and two consortium partners have secured finance to deliver a £105m student complex for Durham University.
The contractor, along with asset management firm Equitix and student accommodation developer Campus Living Villages, will design, build, finance and operate the development, which will include two new university buildings.
Interserve will design and build the buildings, which will comprise 1,000 bedrooms plus a hub containing a 300-seat banquet hall and sports and music facilities.
Work is scheduled to commence on site imminently, with completion set for 2020.
Interserve chief executive Debbie White said: ”This project builds on our extensive experience in the further education sector and our strong 15-year relationship with Durham University.”
Last October the Interserve, Equitix and Student Campus Living consortium secured an £85m deal to build new student accommodation for the university.
Durham University is undertaking a 10-year £350m capital investment programme to expand its estate.
