Interserve wins £10.6m student accommodation deal in Leamington Spa

Interserve has won a £10.6m contract to build two four-storey student flats in Leamington Spa.

The contractor will design and build two new student accommodation buildings for client Alumno Developments alongside the Grand Union canal in Leamington Spa.

Situated near the University of Warwick, the development will provide 187 student bedrooms, as well as a central reception area including common rooms and amenity spaces.

Interserve will also improve the canal towpath as part of the deal and create a park alongside the canal.

Work has already started on site and will complete in September 2017.

Interserve divisional director Simon Butler said: “Interserve has an extensive portfolio of student accommodation projects, which demonstrates the strength and capability of our teams working in partnership with private sector clients.

“At Interserve we are committed to investing in the communities in which we work and we will be continuing to engage with the local supply chain as well as creating new job opportunities for local people where possible.”

Recent contracts in the education and student accommodation sector for Interserve include a £17m deal to design and build a three-storey learning centre at the University of York.

Other major wins include a place on the £4bn ProCure22 framework, alongside five other contractors, and a £37.5m FM contract with client Land Securities.
