Interserve merges two divisions as MD departs

Interserve has announced changes to its structure as part of its “commitment to growth strategy”.

The company, which recently announced it was in talks with lenders to refinance the business, has merged its citizen services division, which handles probation services, learning, employment and healthcare, with its support services unit, which undertakes facilities management.

According to the company’s website, the citizen services division employs around 4,000 people.

Yvonne Thomas, managing director of the division, will be leaving the company at the end of December to set up a new venture.

Support services is managed directly by chief executive Debbie White (pictured).

A statement from the company said: “The structural changes underline the company’s commitment to its growth strategy, and the aim is to provide the best possible service to Interserve’s customers.”

A spokesman for the company said the merger will not result in any redundancies.

Ms White said: “This important announcement reflects our commitment to creating a more effective and simplified business that is focused on providing the best possible service to our customers.

“With clear goals and our strategic priorities now in place, the time is right for us to move our citizen services business into our support services division.

“I’d like to thank Yvonne for her immense contribution to the business and I wish her well in her future endeavours.”
