Interserve bags £19m renovation of University of Edinburgh's McEwan Hall

Interserve has won a £19.1m contract to restore a listed building at the University of Edinburgh.

The contractor will oversee the restoration of McEwan Hall, based in the University’s city centre campus.

The project, designed by architects LDN and Buro Happold, will include both external and internal works.

A new glass entrance pavilion with associated landscaping will be constructed externally, while renovation works include ceiling repairs, new service installations and the extension of the basement will take place inside.

Work on the project will be completed by 2017.

The company is also currently working on other projects in Edinburgh, including the £200m Haymarket development.

In its results for 2014, the firm saw construction revenues rise 21 per cent, but profit margins dipped from 1.8 per cent to 1.6 per cent.
