ISG poaches Kier director for northern MD role

ISG has appointed Danny Murray as its northern regional managing director for the UK construction business.

Mr Murray will oversee ISG’s operations across its Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford and Leeds offices.

He was operations director at Kier in its construction business until this month, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has also worked for Morgan Sindall and Amec over a 30-year career in the industry.

ISG said Mr Murray would bring expertise in the education, healthcare, commercial office, defence and retail sectors.

He will be responsible for building existing customer relationships, securing additional framework appointments and developing ISG’s pipeline of opportunities.

In October, ISG construction managing director Alan McCarthy-Wyper left the firm after joining the company in 2013.

Mr Murray said: “ISG has a strong presence in the North of England and I’m delighted to be joining an organisation entrusted to deliver so many high-profile and regionally significant projects.

“There is great strength and depth of experience within the business and I’m looking forward to working closely with my talented colleagues to grow and further strengthen ISG’s northern region.”

ISG’s northern region is delivering the £66m Liverpool exhibition centre and four-star hotel development, and is re-bidding for the North West Construction Hub framework.

It is also appointed to the Ministry of Justice’s Strategic Alliance Framework; Cleveland Fire Authority Capital Build Framework; Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust Framework; and YORbuild.
