Kier boasts healthy order book

Construction group Kier has won £400 million of new work since the beginning of July and secured 95 per cent of its construction order book to July next year, a statement to the stock market says.

Its construction division has maintained operating margins firmly above 2 per cent, in line with previous guidance, the firm said.

Kier said it had won 55 per cent of its forecast construction revenue for the year to 30 June 2013.

Contract awards had shifted towards the private sector but Education remained a significant contributor to revenue, and as did the P21+ framework in the NHS. Power, waste and overseas markets have remained positive, the statement said.

The services division is sustaining a 4.5 per cent operating margin, boosted by the appointment to the £750m SCAPE national minor works framework as sole contractor during September.
