Kier poaches Skanska regional ops director

Kier has hired Skanska UK’s London building operations director Matthew Cova to become its managing director of major projects.

Mr Cova will oversee the delivery of Kier’s larger-scale health, custodial, defence, science and commercial projects.

He joined Skanska in 1989 as commercial manager.

In 2001 he stepped up as project director and in 2011 was made operations director.

Kier building UK executive director Peter Young said: “Having worked for Skanska for the last 27 years, Matt brings with him a wealth of experience and the collaborative behaviours that align closely with our own core values.”

In May, Construction News revealed Kier had poached Morgan Sindall supply chain director Mark Ramessa to join its board of directors.

Mr Ramessa left Morgan Sindall after two years with the company to join as commercial director for trades and subcontracts.

He joined Morgan Sindall in January 2015 from Bam Construct where he was national supply chain manager between 2003 and 2014 and managing surveyor for developments in London from 1999 to 2003.
