Exclusive: Kier is set to be appointed by Argent for the final building Facebook will occupy as part of its new London campus, Construction News understands.
CN has learned that the contractor is poised to land the deal to deliver the P2 building (pictured) in Kings Cross, which will be part of the social media firm’s London HQ.
The tech giant revealed in July that it was moving in to three buildings in Argent’s north-London scheme, a move welcomed by the mayor of London.
It was announced yesterday that Bam Construction had won the deal to deliver the other two Facebook buildings in Kings Cross known as 11-21 Canal Reach.
Bam is already on-site delivering an enabling and substructure package ahead of the main works. The project has a target date of early 2021.
The deal would represent the third major contract secured by Kier since it launched a £264m rights issue to help pay down its borrowings and in response to increased risks to its net debt position last month.
The contractor, which also topped the monthly contract wins table for the fourth time this year in November, won close to £100m-worth of work in December.
These deals included the £45m appointment by Cambridgeshire County Council to carry out the first phase of the design and construction of a new education site.
Kier was also hired to build a new £50m scientific research facility in Surrey.
Argent and Kier have been contacted for comment.
