Kier wins 18-storey Leeds Vita Student development

Developer Select Property has picked Kier to deliver its first Vita Student development in Leeds.

Kier will build the 376-bedroom St Albans Place development at the top of New Briggate in the city centre.

Designed by architects Feilden Clegg Bradley, the stepped building ranges between seven and 18 storeys in height, and will also provide new public realm alongside 8,200 sq ft of amenity space and 3,750 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor.

Kier will start on site in July this year, starting with an eight-week groundworks programme, followed by a 66-week programme to build the concrete frame and 52 weeks for the external facade works.

Completion of the scheme is pencilled in for July 2019.

The St Albans Place development is Select Property’s first Vita Student scheme in the city.

Select has built or is currently building in a number of UK cities under its Vita Student brand, including Exeter, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton.

The developer picked Wates to deliver its £60m Vita Student hub at Circle Square in Manchester, while Morgan Sindall was chosen to build a 435-bed development in Southampton.

Other contractors to have worked on Vita Student schemes across the UK include Create Construction and Carillion, with the latter completing a £15.5m project for the client in Newcastle.
