Morgan Sindall managing director Graham Shennan has departed the business, Construction News can reveal.
Mr Shennan had leaders including Morgan Sindall managing director of construction and design Pat Boyle and managing director of civil engineering Nick Fletcher reporting into him at the business.
He had been with Morgan Sindall since 2002 and was formerly MD of Morgan Ashurst before it was merged with Morgan Est to create an enlarged construction and infrastructure group.
Group CEO John Morgan has made changes to his management team in construction and infrastructure which has led to the MD role being axed.
The group had issued a profit warning following a number of problem contracts in London and the South-east.
The contractor cited “delivery pressures” in its construction and infrastructure division such as cost overruns and delays, in an interim management statement for the period from 1 July 2014 to date.
Operating profit margins for the full year are now expected to fall from 1 per cent in 2013 to between 0.3 and 0.5 per cent.
A Morgan Sindall Group spokesperson said: “We’ve taken a detailed look at how we run the Construction and Infrastructure division in order to create a more efficient company for growth. We have taken the decision to create a flatter structure, with Pat Boyle and Nick Fletcher reporting directly into group chief executive John Morgan.
“Pat and Nick are working closely together to deliver complex, integrated projects for our clients which draw on our construction and infrastructure expertise. As a result of these changes, the role of managing director of Morgan Sindall plc has been made redundant and Graham Shennan has left the business.”
