Morgan Ashurst wins £14.6m of primary school work

Morgan Ashurst has been awarded two contracts to build primary schools in Scotland and Hampshire, worth £14.6 million in total.

The contractor will build an £8.7m Special Educational Needs primary school in the New Forest for Hampshire County Council.

Work on the school, which will feature therapy rooms, a multi-sensory area and a hydrotherapy pool, begins this month and is due to be completed by June 2011.

The company has also won a £5.9 million contract to build a new primary school in Douglas, Scotland for South Lanarkshire Council.

The 1,910 sq m school will be built alongside the existing Douglas Primary School, which Morgan Ashurst will demolish.

The project is part of South Lanarkshire Council’s £850 million Primary Schools Modernisation Programme, which will see 124 schools re-built or refurbished by 2016.

Works will begin this month and complete in May 2011.
