Sir Robert McAlpine wins £9.3m St. Andrews Uni job

Sir Robert McAlpine has won a £9.3 million contract to carry out the first phase of the University of St Andrews’ Fife Park student accommodation redevelopment.

The contract covers the design and phased construction of 252 accommodation units.

A minimum of 126 bedspaces and supporting infrastructure will be completed by September 2010 and the remainder of the units will be available by January 2011.

The existing accommodation at Fife Park will remain in use throughout construction of the new blocks.

In later phases, the university plans to demolish Fife Park and replace it with modern fit-for-purpose student accommodation.

In total, the replacement of Fife Park and development of new student accommodation will provide 500 additional bed spaces.
