Wates has appointed five people to director roles, including creating a new group head of preconstruction.
The contractor promoted Steffan Battle (pictured), formerly its preconstruction director for London, to group head of preconstruction covering both Wates and subsidiary SES Engineering Services.
He will sit on the divisional construction group board and report to construction group managing director Paul Chandler.
Wates has also appointed Lucy Abbott as group BIM director for both Wates Group and SES, as well as promoting three more directors.
James Askew, formerly commercial director of the group’s southern regions, has been made a commercial director for construction nationwide.
Alec Jackman, formerly preconstruction director for the group’s southern home counties region, has been promoted to business unit director for the region.
And Rob Clifford has been promoted to the role of national MEP director, having previously served as MEP director for the firm’s southern region.
Mr Chandler said: “Wates enjoyed a successful year in 2016, with increased turnover and profit, and we are maintaining this level of performance with a healthy order book.
“It’s therefore vital that we have the right team in place to help us meet our growth targets.
“I’m delighted that we have been able to fill these important roles from within our ranks.”
Wates last month announced that SES Engineering Services managing director Andy Wall had departed after less than a year in the role.
Mr Wall, who formerly worked in Interserve’s London construction business as a divisional director, joined Wates-owned SES as managing director in August last year.
Jason Knights was promoted to replace Mr Wall in the role of managing director.
