Cube build heats up

Birmingham’s The Cube has reached a new phase in its construction, as heating and ventilation systems are installed to the £100 million show-piece building.

M&E contractor Robert Prettie and Co, in conjunction with heating and ventilation specialists Hattersley, has installed HVAC “hook-up” systems.

The 23-storey building is the final phase of the Mailbox development in the city, and will house apartments, offices, shops, a hotel, restaurants and car parking.

The “HVAC Compact Hook-Up units”, as they are known, are made by Hattersley, and will be used to connect HVAC terminal units such as fan coils and chilled beams.

The M&A contract on the building is worth £16m.
