East Riding of Yorkshire Council plans seafront development

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has appointed consultants LDA Design to develop a detailed investment plan to regenerate Hornsea’s seafront.

The plan will identify ways to improve the range and quality of visitor and resident facilities along the promenade.

LDA - who recently delivered the Scarborough Harbour Scheme - will consult communities to canvass local opinion.

The Hornsea Masterplan, produced in 2007, provided a general vision of how key areas of the town could be developed.

The latest documents will take the ideas a stage further, identifying how to develop the vision for the seafront area, building on the success of the award-winning redevelopment of the Central Promenade.

Councillor Andy Burton said: “This investment plan is a vital step towards bringing forward an exciting new development of the seafront. It will ensure that the town’s natural asset, the seaside, is complemented by quality facilities for both residents and visitors.”
